10 Commandements For Your Life...

Totally inspired by this video. Thank you, sir, thank you so much for your superb videos. Totally killer stuff! Also, if you aren't a Carlin fan, oh, wait... why am I even talking to the non-existent aliens out there. Psswwffhh!

1. Everybody lies.
I's true. Accept it, or not! Just assume that no one is telling you the
truth because more than likely they're not. They're trying to make you
feel better about yourself or save their own ass. Lying is key to getting
through life. Honesty is pretty much overrated and is just going
to piss a lot of people off and leave you alone and miserable if
you start telling people what you really think about them. If
you want a good marriage, lie; if you want that job you've been
hoping for, lie and make yourself appear more important and suited
for it than you actually are; if you want to stay out of trouble, lie.
Do I need to keep going or have you gotten the point by now?

2. People don't change.
You may think that a person has improved, but the truth is they are

still the same worthless waste of space they've always been, they
have just discovered more clever ways of hiding it since you
last spoke with them. And that is fucking true! An alcoholic is
always going to be an alcoholic, a cheater is always going to be
a cheater, a junkie is always going to be a junkie. And a blogger
is always going to be a blogger, if they take some lessons from
me! Stop setting yourself up for disappointment thinking this time
around the person is better and more upstanding, give it a little bit
of time and their true colors will once again show and leave you
disappointed just like you have been numerous times in the past.

3. Whoring around is the key to success.
It's not about how qualified you are or what skills you possess

to get that job you think you deserve. Unless you plan on
constantly brown nosing or blowing the right people in the
company, you're still going to be doing grunt work until the
day you die. The only reason the higher ups got those
positions is because they knew the right people or were
screwing the right people. It's sad, really. You worked so
hard to try to get ahead in the company when you really
didn't have to, you just had to either kiss ass or suck dick.
But hey, since I've told you the key to success, better luck next time.

4. People are not who you think they are.
This goes back to everybody lies. We all put up a front upon first

meeting someone to impress them; whether it's someone of
the opposite sex, a boss, a family member, etc. No one is as
they seem. Deep down we're all selfish, hypocritical beings.
As a great philosopher once said, "People are bastard covered
bastards with a bastard filling."

5. Count on yourself.
You may have those friends that say you two are going to be "bff,"

but "forever" does not exist when it comes to the relationships you
build. Reverting back to #4, a person's true colors are eventually
going to show and you're going to learn you can't trust the people
you want. It's best to simply look out for number one because in
the end that's all you're going to have.

6. Nothing lasts forever.
Not your relationship, your marriage, your job, etc. Start preparing

for the worst because it's eventually going to come and it's going to
hit you hard. Don't hold onto anything for too long because you're
going to be a broken human being when it's gone from your life.

7. Reading and writing are essential to sanity.

On a positive note, I recommend everyone read and write at least
once a day. Just let your mind get lost in a better world than this one
by picking up any book you happen to find (unless it's Twilight, I'd
suggest you hang yourself for reading such a horrible series.)
Write to get your own ideas out in the open and share those ideas
with others.

8. Think for yourself.
Don't hang onto every word everyone says, not even me. You have a

mind of your own (at least I would hope you do), and you should be
using it. Create your own ideas to possibly help mankind evolve.

9. Question authority.
Just because someone is an authority figure doesn't mean they are

always right. You should question everything anyone tells you.
Don't take someone's word because... well... people are liars anyway.
Don't follow any person or creed blindly.

10. Life's one big joke and your death is the punch line.
Treat life as nothing more than that: a joke. Don't take anything

seriously; not your job, your significant other, the cancer with which
you've been diagnosed. Learn to laugh at yourself... and others.
Learn to laugh. No one likes a jackass with no sense of humor.

The world will be much better off if everyone takes my lessons to heart.
Don't waste time! Start learning them, NOW!

to piss a lot of people off!
So true :p

Rightly said, everyone is a liar, some days back, I had read someone officially announcing that he has left blogging :p
How come you've taken a not of so many minute details of life at this age? :O
Makes me wonder :|

- The Virgin Author! said...

See, Jammy... you don't read things properly. Why don't you check the previous post, on this blog which said about "Quitting Blogging!" :)

-

PS: Asshole! :)

Aastha said...

begins with a bang in 1 & 2. III, IV and V kept going, but #6 was a big disappointment, (not when you are just 5 months married and reading just after a tiff with your loved one :-( ..) 7, 8, 9 and 10.. One realises the awakening!! :)) And of course. Keep Posting..!

I was so happy to read the title that I did not bother to read the link along with it :) :p

A nice read.
One of the 'known-to-all-still-a-revelation' sort of post! Though ofcourse, the commandments would stand true even minus the crudeness, but then I guess it adds to the flavor. :)

- The Virgin Author! said...

@Jammy
Look what an asshole you are! :P

@Ashes_of_roses
Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. :) Yes, number 6 could be a big disappointment, rather any point could be a big disappointment for anyone who takes it personally. :P These points are to be forced on others. Don't imply them on yourself. And have fun with your married life, as long as it lasts! :)

Keep commenting! ;-)

@Saimah
Thank you, my honest reader! :) Yes, you're right, the crudeness is my way of turning a sensible post to "MY" version of the same post! :P

Nethra said...

That's very thoughtful and thought provoking post. I agree with most of the things. Being ready for the worst isn't pessimism. :)

- The Virgin Author! said...

@Nethra
Exactly. You got the point, now. Finally. :)

Cool list there Arjit, I agree with you on most of them :)
We ought to think of ourselves and question authority once in a while :D :D

Cheers!!

Why is it that the mind refuses to believe what you've just written inspite of knowing it to be true ? Why do I always give everyone the benefit of doubt ? Why do I think people are good ?

Sandhya said...

Agree with most of the points made!!

Loser's Paradise said...

Nice. You write what happens around us but people are too stoic to notice them. :-bd

Lakshmi Rajan said...

Coz of your #1 point, I will not take serious the #2 point. Since people are what #4 says #3 holds a bit of truth so ultimately one has to rely on #5 keeping in mind #6. But since you also said #2 not everyone will take up #7 . Taking cue of #8 and #9 , I leave this comment as #10

:P

Guria said...

I disagree, I disgree...
Your #5 is in direct conflict with #1, and #9 is at loggerheads with #3, #7 and #8 can never happen together, if both #2 and @4 are true, I'm sorry for you and you have got #10 backwards!
Meaning, you are confused... what can I say, you are a virgin. But I guess, hopefully #7 will hold true for you... ;) ;)

deepa kashyap said...

I completely agree with you over the points 1, 4 and 6 .. nice post :)

Ramaa said...

Hahaha! We seem to disagree on nearly every point, including Twilight, which I loved.

Life can be beautiful... and I'm sure you know that. Only, you were pissed when you wrote this. :P (That's what I feel, at any rate!)

You write very well, regardless :-)
Keep going!

Bhai, I feel like 'Arjun' at war (You as Krishna) while reading the post. Some 'Gita - Saar' this...

Awesome. Hard-hitting. Practical. It can also be renamed as the essential survival guide...

Bahut Gussa hai yaar tere andar...But sahee tareeke se saamne aaya hai...:)

However, personally, I will not follow any of this. I cant be this objective and live my life...I want to be fooled and learn things the hard way, otherwise life will become too systematic and mundane. But, these are truly the modern virtues of life.

keep blogging...

Sachin

P.S> Dude, guest blogging ka kya hua???

- The Virgin Author! said...

@Divya
Sure, madam. I will! ;-)

@CB
Thank you for liking it. Have a great day ahead.

@Mehak
;-)

@Sandhya
There is NO reason why won't you agree to all that! :P

@Deepa
People can NEVER be good. They are ALWAYS going to be selfish. Don't trust them so much. Take my point! :)

@Deva
Appreciation from you means a lot! :)

- The Virgin Author! said...

@Guria @Lakshmi Rajan
You guys are right. #1 can never work out with #6, and #7 is completely useless, unless you are reading my blog. The rest points are lame. Not at all worth trying! :P

@Deepa Kashyap
Thank you for liking it! :)

@Thedaydreamer
Sure! ;)

@Sachin Arya
Thank you for liking it. And thank you for not implementing it in your life. Add me on facebook, maybe we can discuss it there.

Sudipto Das said...

Superb, I mean the way you write is very informal not like other bloggers they are very meticulous with the choice of words and being apt all the time and that's what I like about yours writing keep up with your good work. :)

- The Virgin Author! said...

@Ash
;-) Thank you!

@Sudipto
Thank you for your comment on this silly post of mine! ;) And as you said, I can't help, but, write crude posts. I can't be diplomatic like others!

MangoManBunty said...

Woah!! Game Theory, eh? Selfish rational human beings! One misanthrope of a post but quite real! I believe another equally 'important' commandment is the superiority of females over males when it comes to 'attaining success'. I wonder how didn't it get a mention! Or are you a feminist? :o
